Tour the Green Lake fire station on Saturday

November’s fire station open house was big fun. The fire fighters were so nice and the hordes of kids in attendance loved the show. Fire Station Neighbor Appreciation Day 6846 Oswego Place NE Saturday, February 6, 2010 11:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m. On Saturday, February 6, Seattle Fire Stations will host open houses to celebrate Seattle’s 16th annual Neighbor Appreciation Day. From 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., residents can stop by their neighborhood fire station to meet firefighters, tour the station and learn about firefighting equipment. Garden hose stretched across Latona Ave NE stops traffic

We just received the following report from “a concerned neighbor.”  We’re assuming that this was a prank?  Anyone else know why someone would stretch a garden hose across a busy street? Around 9:45 we heard and saw for a split-second a college-aged, white male at our front door on Latona in the 5700 block. We opened the door to find a garden hose nozzle attached to the door’s handle.  We looked out the window to see two cars stopped in the road because the hose was stretching across Latona at eye level. Lots of police activity in Green Lake tonight

We just received the following tip: At approximately 8:30 PM tonight, there were several police cars circling the community center as well as the walking trail around the lake. They now have a road block at approximately 72nd and 5th Ave NE. Any idea as to what’s going on?? There were also reports on the GreenlakeMoms yahoo group about “police cars all over GreenLake in the area of 1st, 80th, 77th, and 5th Ave on Sat night 8:30pm.” We’re looking into this right now and will update this post as we fill in the details about what happened.
