Car stolen from N 75th St in northeast Green Lake

What do you think? (10 Comments) December 9, 2009 at 4:00PM

Derick wrote to let us know that his car was stolen on Monday night or early Tuesday morning from where it was parked on the street on N 75th St between Sunnyside Ave N and Woodlawn Ave NE.

The car is a teal green 1993 Honda Accord 4dr with noticeable front end damage. License plate: 659-VPY. Go’s to show even crappy cars get stolen…

If you know anything about this crime, call the North Precinct via the non-emergency line, (206) 625-5011, select 8 from the menu, and reference case number 09-424154 (note: that case number could also be 09-429154.  Derick’s copy of the report is not very clear).

Update, January 4th 2010:

We just heard the following from Derick:

My car was found at the Ravenna P&R. Had all four side windows busted out and the windshield was pretty well bashed. My assumption is that it was sitting in the P&R for some time and was only recently vandalized. Nothing was missing from the the car. The ignition was damaged. My key wouldn’t fit all the way in but it would still turn. Had the same amount of gas in it as when it was stolen.

My roommate just came home and said “hey, did you hear about Derick? His car got stolen!” And I did a double take remembering this story and at the time I noticed it was close but didn't make the connection! Man, we're going to have to make him cookies or something. :(

unbelievable. i can see my bedroom window in that google streetview… had i been awake and at my desk at the right time, i would have witnessed the theft.

my car sits around that same area… any suggestions on how to keep it safe to prevent this from happening again?

Hey solarweasel – Here's some tips relating to car prowls, which are actually way more frequent in this neighborhood than outright car theft: http://bit.ly/5vO7dO
