Play piano or the organ? Volunteer at The Hearthstone!

The HearthstoneWe just got back from a tour of The Hearthstone (6720 E. Green Lake Way N),  a retirement community for people age 62+.  We only have 30 years to go, and man, we are counting down the days.  The place is nice.

The Hearthstone is that big white building on the East side of the lake.  It’s been in operation since 1964, and is truly a vital part of the Green Lake community.

The Hearthstone donates meeting space to the Friends of Green Lake and the Green Lake Community Council (which, by the way, is meeting this Wednesday, November 11, at 7 p.m.).

Play piano or the organ?  The Hearthstone is looking for a volunteer pianist or organist:

A pianist or organist would add so much more to our Sunday evening Vespers at the Hearthstone Retirement Community on Green Lake. We would love to have you play to accompany our singing of hymns from 7-8 p.m. (3 Sundays on, then 3 Sundays off) You would get to play a lovely Steinway Grand, have a complimentary dinner beforehand with reserved parking, and receive our undying gratitude.

There are many other ways to volunteer as well:

Opportunities exist to interact with residents at the Hearthstone through activities, by assisting with projects and through one-on-one contact with a specific resident.

Call 206-525-9666 and speak with Life Enhancement Coordinator, Donna Leggett for details and answers to your questions.

I would be nice is a young person could come and help out with retirement community. There is so much wisdom, that I thinks its a shame that I keep them away from the working world.
