This should be a lesson to all. I try very hard to never put stuff in the trunk after parking, especially purses or laptop bags. Always hide your stuff in the trunk BEFORE you drive away from your PREVIOUS location! So that when you park, you simply leave the car without visibly broadcasting exactly what you're trying to "hide." If I'm already on my way somewhere, I will often pull over to the curb well before my final parking spot, move stuff into the trunk, and then continue to the destination. Yes, it seems like more trouble, but it quickly becomes habit. And nobody's prowled my car...yet...

Seriously, avoid leaving any visible bag in your passenger compartment. When people look in my car windows, they see nothing tempting.
