Green Lake's voice was heard at McGinn Transition Team's first town hall

Tonight we headed up to the Northgate Community Center to see Mayor-Elect Mike McGinn in action as he hosted the first of three transition town halls. Green Lake in the 1920s

Interested in local history? HistoryLink.org, a free only encyclopedia of Washington State history, is an amazing resource.  We particularly love the People’s Histories collection, which includes “memoirs, reminiscences, contemporary accounts, commentaries, and expressions of personal opinion.” A favorite: Dorothea Nordstrand Remembers School Days on Green Lake (Seattle) in the 1920s In this reminiscence, Dorothea (Pfister) Nordstrand (b. 1916) recalls school days in the 1920s in the marshy land of Seattle’s Green Lake neighborhood. In 2009 Dorothea Nordstrand was awarded AKCHO’s (Association of King County Historical Organizations) Willard Jue Memorial Award for a Volunteer, for contributing these vivid reminiscences to various…
