Our new favorite thing: Green Lake letterpress

What do you think? (No Comments) October 22, 2009 at 9:56PM

This past summer, as we were perusing the goods at Urban Craft Uprising, we came across a very, very excellent display of letterpressed stationary.  Really, who doesn’t love letterpress?  Especially letterpressed cards that say YOU ARE RADICAL?

We got to chatting with Rosanna, the gal behind The Iron Curtain Press, and mentioned our general obsession with all things Green Lake (yeah, we’re kinda dorks that way).

Well, yay!  We just got word from Rosanna that she has added a Green Lake card to her repertoire!

The wood blocks used for each neighborhood come from Charles at the Wright Brothers Bicycle shop in Fremont. I was taking a repair and maintenance class there two years ago and he discovered that I did letterpress printing. He pointed me in the direction of two boxes covered with a THICK layer of dust and filled with these absolutely awesome blocks of the boats. He had purchased them about 8 years previous at a garage sale. He said that even though he didn’t know what to do with them, they were too awesome not to pick them up. And boy am I glad he did!

We’re glad too.
