Green Lake Zipcar

Whoooohoooo, we just saw that today’s Groupon is for 72% off  Zipcar. Excellent.

Urbanites who ordinarily hoof it, use public transit, or ride on the backs of men bred for transportation purposes can’t resist the convenience of wheels-at-will without the hassles of car ownership.

Drive a truck for heavy hauling, a hybrid for whale-saving, an SUV for a family outing, or a coupe for couping; there are tons of models you can choose to drive. View vehicle availability online, and then reserve the car; there are 69 Zipcars in pick-up spots all over the city. The reservation includes driver’s insurance and a gas card to fill up the tank . Rental is billable by the hour or by the day, starting at $7 per hour and $69 per day, and reservations include 180 free miles per day.

This Groupon covers the $25 membership sign-up fee, gets you a year membership (a $50 value) and a $50 driving credit. Click here to see complete rate info.

Signing up is easy; your Groupon will include simple instructions for redeeming on Zipcar’s website.

  • I have been a zipcar/flexcar member for 5 years. However, moving to the Tangletown area has been dicey as far as zip car is concerned. They are now a national company and don't seem to understand the real map. We need more cars in Tangletown and Green Lake on the eastside of the lake and south. We lost of cars at Stone Way and another at Albertson's when zip car took over. I have tried to find a parking spot in Tangletown, but haven't found any friendly offers. Please contact me at annmarie@arttrek.com or zip car directly if you have a spot. They do park cars in private driveways by the way.

The whole idea of ease of use is a undercut here in beautiful Green Lake. I presently have to walk a half an hour round trip to get cars in Green Lake, which was not true when I lived in the U district.
