Green Lake businesses experience upsurge in crime
Is crime escalating in Green Lake? It sure seems that way.
This morning we got word of an armed robbery at a local business. On Sunday night, shortly after 9 p.m., a gunman donned a surgical mask and robbed both the business and an individual who was in the place of business. As of yet, the man has not be apprehended by the police. (Note: the owner asked that the business not be named.)
We also spoke with Duke Moscrip (yes, of Duke’s!), who told us that several other business have experienced robberies recently. Duke told us that both his restaurant and another nearby eatery were robbed a couple of months ago, and that there was an armed robbery at a Green Lake pub four months ago. He adds:
Our chef had his bike stolen in front of restaurant. It was locked in a bike rack and someone cut the lock open. An HVAC repairman left his laptop on his front seat, car unlocked, while he spent ten minutes on our roof checking on something. He was literally 25 feet from his truck. Laptop gone in middle of the day. More and more incidents. Perhaps locals should write their story and we submit to police. It really is out of hand. Hard to believe that the Greenlake neighborhood is turning so dangerous.
Know anything about any of these crimes? Call the North Precinct via the non-emergency line, (206) 625-5011, and select 8 from the menu. If you are calling about the Duke’s break-in, during which a safe was sawed open, please reference Incident #09066715.
