Some cool events are going down at Mockingbird Books, a children’s book store located up behind Gregg’s Greenlake Cycle and north of Rosita’s. For starters, they have a free story time 6 days a week (every day except Sunday) at 11 a.m.

Tom Brenner, local author from Vashon Island, will be reading his new picture book And Then Comes Halloween during our daily story time, Saturday, October 3rd at 11AM. Children of all ages will enjoy this colorful, playful and rhyming story of Halloween adventure.
The Girls’ Book Group, ages 13-18, are currently reading the Wind Dancers series by Sibley Miller. There are four books and four more to come. Gentle stories of fairy horses. This book group meets every month on the third Wednesday, at 7PM.
The Boys’ Book Group, ages 6-10, is reading the Erin Hunter Warriors series in graphic novel format. They meet the second Friday of every month at 7PM. Free pizza too!
The Boys’ Book Group, ages 10-14, is reading the Ranger’s Apprentice series and will be discussing the sixth book titled The Siege of Macindaw. Book 7 and Book 8 will be out in 2010. Boys love this series!!! The group meets the third Friday of every month at 7PM. (Oct. 16th this month)
The Grownup Book Group meets the third Tuesday of every month at 7PM. We are currently reading the Airborn series by Kenneth Oppel.
