Robbery suspects being sought

On 9/10/09, at approximately 11:25 p.m., a citizen was robbed in Greenlake Park followed by the subsequent robbery of four more victims who had been walking along the Greenlake path. The three suspects were wearing bandanas across their face and at least one suspect brandished a handgun during the robberies. A K-9 unit and King County Guardian 1 helicopter responded to assist.

The three suspects remain at large.

KOMO reports:

SEATTLE — Police are investigating two more armed robberies that occurred in the city overnight, and looking to see if they are connected to a string of robberies that have been taking place around the Green Lake neighborhood.

The first incident occurred just before 11:30 p.m. Thursday near N. 65th Street and E. Green Lake Way N. Three African-American men wearing dark sunglasses, one armed with a gun, robbed several different people at gunpoint.

About an hour later, two men walking down the street were approached by three Africa-American men wearing bandanas and dark clothes in the 1700 block of Boylston Ave. E. Again, one of the three men pulled out a gun and robbed the other two men, stealing wallets and a cell phone. No one was hurt.

The three men ran on foot are still on the loose.

Seattle officers say they believe the two incidents overnight are related due to similar suspect descriptions, but are still investigating whether they are tied to other recent robberies around Green Lake.

Early Tuesday morning, a woman was robbed by two men around 1 a.m. as she was near Evans Pool. The woman told police she was walking near the lake’s canoe shed when one man put a gun to her head and the other grabbed the money out of her pocket.

Police believe those same armed men then robbed a man heading home on Latona Avenue NE.

KING adds that the three suspects wore sunglasses, baggy clothes and red bandanas and notes that the other four robberies, possibly connected to last night’s incidents, also took place between 11 p.m. and 1 a.m. KING also has some footage of Tyler, the man who was robbed early Tuesday morning on the 5800 block of Latona Ave NE.  Tyler reports, in part:

“Guys came around the corner and just decided to punch me in the face and then as soon as that happened they just started kicking me and kept continuing to punch me,” said Tyler, who still has a black eye from when he was robbed earlier this week. “They asked for my cell phone and wallet I held on to my cell phone; however, they were able to rip the back pocket off my jeans and steal the wallet.”
