There was a fire last night at a house on 2211 N 59th St.
At 2:02 a..m. early this morning (Friday, September 25th), fourteen emergency vehicles were dispatched following a 9-1-1 call. An extra medic vehicle was dispatched eight minutes later, and three more vehicles arrived at separate times over the next several hours, keeping some Tangletown residents awake.
KIRO 7 reports that the residents of the home, an elderly couple, got out safely. They also report that the husband was alerted to the fire when he smelled something. Firefighters had to cut a hole in the roof to gain access to the fire.Seattlepi.com reports that it took about 10 minutes to get the fire out.

Update: The First Department is reporting that the fire was accidental and was caused by an overheated light fixture. Damage was estimated at $70,000.
