Circa Green Lake: Your Thoughts and Opinions, Please!

What do you think? (8 Comments) August 29, 2009 at 4:29PM

Green Lakers, do tell! We would love to hear you sound off on Circa: Love it? Hate it? Live there? Want to live there? Would never live there? Miss Albertsons? Happy to trade Albertsons for hot yoga, pizza, and smoothies?  Let the neighborhood know vis-à-vis the comment section below.

Circa, this could be a touchy topic, well I have nothing bad to say. I would not want to live on street level, by the bus stop, in those units that have great big windows with blinds that are never opened. The salon by the bus stop does keep some strange hours according to their posted sign, hours vary by day and vary by week…
I do miss having a grocery store, I emailed the Metropolitan Market and asked if they'd consider a Green Lake location. They said they're currently opening a new store on the eastside, but would keep us in mind for next year. With the coming expansion of the Hearthstone I hope that some grocery chain will realize the need and take advantage of it. Another Albertsons would be great, the old building needed to go, but their prices are oh so good.

I would not want to live there, but I guess I don't have anything bad to say about the building itself (though I did take note of the Times' article a while back about how Circa is ugly and brings down the aesthetic quality of the area). It would be nice to have more retail options on the ground floor — I assume that's the plan eventually? At any rate, I'd rather save my complaining for The Big Hole. Gah! That's a block from where I live and every day I pass by and sigh and think of all the cooler things that could be there than a hole.

Love the idea of new restaurants/ businesses on the ground floor. If a Trader Joe’s went in there, I would be in heaven! As far as living there… the rents were a bit high when I checked them as the building was being finished and I don’t know if they’ve dropped due to low occupancy, but the units visible from street level show 90′s-looking formica cabinets and cheap finishes, so for the money I’d have to say ‘nope’ to living there.
