We heard about the improvements planned for playfields numbers 2 and 7 at the last Friends of Green Lake and Green Lake Community Council meetings and you’ve probably noticed that work has begun. The two dirt fields will soon be replaced with synthetic turf. See the Parks and Rec website for location info and before and after imagery. The synthetic turf is a good thing and will create less runoff into the lake. The men in hardhats and work trucks will be part of the landscape throughout the summer.
Equally exciting was our discovery of yet another guerilla knitter cozy when we went to check out the construction. Next time we might even have the presence of mind to brush the leaves off the cozy before photographing it.
