While this year’s Best of Seattle Readers’ Poll (via Seattle Weekly) doesn’t exactly scream GREEN LAKE!!!  OMG!!  GREEEEEEN LAKE!, we were happy to see at least one GL shout out: Best Bike Advice/Maintenance/Repair: Clockwise to loosen? Sustainable Green Lake Meeting (and Biochar!) August 18th

How many times did you hear this today: “Is it hot enough for ya?” Maybe it’s got you thinking about global warming. Perhaps the headline “Is Biochar a Quick Fix for Global Warming?” in today’s The Daily Green (remember, no relation) caught your eye. Lower Woodland Park Playfields Construction Underway

We heard about the improvements planned for playfields numbers 2 and 7 at the last Friends of Green Lake and Green Lake Community Council meetings and you’ve probably noticed that work has begun. The two dirt fields will soon be replaced with synthetic turf. See the Parks and Rec website for location info and before and after imagery. The synthetic turf is a good thing and will create less runoff into the lake. The men in hardhats and work trucks will be part of the landscape throughout the summer. Lost Cat: Ginger

Missing since evening of July 22nd.  She doesn’t have a collar but is microchipped.  She is a golden/tan tabby with green eyes, a medium to large build and purrs very loudly around people.
