At tonight’s Green Lake Community Council meeting, Juan Peralez spoke about Seattle City Light’s Neighborhood Power Project. It’s not listed on their website yet, but the current neighborhoods in the spotlight are Green Lake and Wallingford, from July 2009 through June 2010.
Conserve our precious resources and save money while reducing your carbon footprint!
Ways you can participate:
- Distribute FREE energy-saving compact fluorescent bulbs to your neighbors
- Participate in the Neighborhood Night Out Against Crime (August 4th)
- Sign up for a comprehensive single family energy audit (includes blower door test, infra-red camera and an energy score card) for only $95
- Learn about our special bonus program for Wallingford and Green Lake small businesses
Note: the energy audit (or green audit) is much more comprehensive than last year’s free audits. And it’s on a sliding scale so don’t let the figure scare you.
Seattle City Light has additional programs in the planning stages and would love more ideas and feedback and offers of collaboration from community groups. Juan’s contact information is at the bottom of the Volunteering In Your Neighborhood page.
If you’re a small business in the neighborhood, you can benefit this year, too. The Smart Business Program can help you improve light quality throughout your business while lowering energy and maintenance costs. The rebates average 50-60% of the cost of the light fixture upgrade.
