Bow Hunting at Green Lake

What do you think? (5 Comments) July 22, 2009 at 12:13AM

This has got to be the most interesting discussion ever on the Washington Fly Fishing message boards.

just wondering if bow hunting or spear fishing for carp is legal at green lake.
i cant seem to find anything that says it isnt.

In addition to the discussion as to whether or not it’s OK to shoot at things within the city limits (sounds like it’s not), the legality of fishing for carp was also questioned. We’re awfully tempted to join WFF so we can let them know that the Friends of Green Lake have declared the carp bad news. Can’t wait to see how this all shakes out!

Gentle Readers, I am pleased to present the difference between a horse and a jackass.

Jackass: I can’t seem to find anything that says it isn’t perfectly legal to shoot a bow and arrow at Green Lake. Now, where are those wascally cawps?

Horse: I used those fancy Internet-gadget doo-hickies, and looky what I found!

SMC (Seattle Municipal Code) 18.12.130 Unlawful use of airguns, bow and arrow or slingshots. It is unlawful in any park to discharge or use any airgun or bow and arrow, or to use any slingshot or other device the purpose of which is to propel an object away from the person using it, except at places and times set aside by the Superintendent as safe for such activity and posted by signs specifying the permitted activity.

Furthermore, I’m pretty sure we already have plenty of sharp metal instruments of mass destruction in Green Lake: http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/localnews/2008072586_webspikes25m.html.

    Keeping it real,
