Seattle Parks and Recreation declares summer tomorrow, just after our lengthy sunny spell has ended. The repair work is finally done so as soon as the weather cooperates, let the frolicking begin.

Here are the specifics:

Wading Pool Hours

Daily 11am-8pm provided it’s sunny and the temperature is forecast to be 70 degrees or above.
Daily information available from the wading pool hotline: (206) 684-7796 (updated every day by 9am).

Wading poolWading Pool Rules

  • Children under 10 years old must be supervised by a responsible adult.
  • No “Bare Buns” – bathing suit attire required, babies must wear tight plastic pants or diapers designed for swimming.
  • No food or drink; no glass containers.
  • No spots – people with communicable diseases are not allowed in the pool.
  • No fidos (dogs, cats, etc.)
  • No bikes
  • No running
  • No water fights
  • No drugs or alcohol

The wading pool is located on the north end of Green Lake at the intersection of Wallingford Ave N and East Green Lake Drive North. Green Lake is one of the more popular wading pools in the Seattle area. Warning: with only 14 of the 25 wading pools operating this summer, it’s going to be crowded. Read more about the closures here.

On the water conservation front, the wading pool will be half full most days. To save even more water, the city is encouraging people to use the wading pools rather than fill their kiddie pools or run backyard sprinklers. So extra crowded and only ankle deep. Sounds like quite the experience, so hold your pee and hide your rashes and come on out!
