Green Lake is getting a street mural! Street murals add beauty to a neighborhood, bring neighbors together for a fun project, empower the community to creatively and responsibly steward our public places, and calm traffic. Check out the ladybug at 49th and Burke Ave N. in Wallingford to see one for yourself. Anyone can participate in the initial stage of this co-creative, collaborative process. Facilitated by the conveners, the first meeting on July 9th will yield emergent design parameters and a plan for next steps to finalize a great design for our community.

Sustainable Green Lake and Bethany Community Church invite your design ideas for a street mural to be painted this summer on Stone Avenue North between 80th Street and Green Lake Drive. Local residents, artists, and church members are invited to bring their designs and ideas to be used for determining the final project. Collaboration with other artists and residents is encouraged.
Guidelines include a suggested theme of “water” however you would like to interpret it. The design should fit into the existing urban environment, be community-oriented, and kid-friendly. The City of Seattle has the following guidelines for street painting:
- Simple lines and bright colors work best
- The mural has to start and stop at least 20 feet from stop signs
- Only the driving area can be painted
- Cannot mimic official street painting
- No words or advertising allowed
Submit initial designs on:
