Kidical Mass Coming to Green Lake
First of all, don’t confuse Kidical Mass with Critical Mass. This is not a protest; it’s
a fun, safe, easy-going, and law-abiding family bike ride for kids of all ages…We hope to educate bike-curious parents about ways to bicycle with children, help kids learn to ride safely in the city, and increase the visibility of family biking on Seattle streets.
The first Seattle ride was in May and it was a great time. The event takes place in different parts of town and in July it’ll be here, to coincide with the Milk Carton Derby:
On Saturday, July 11, we’ll meet at Wallingford Playfield at the crack of 9:30am (painful for some, midday for others), fuel up on Mighty-O Donuts, and head out by 10am for a quick ride down to Greenlake for a promenade along Greenlake Way back towards the south end of the lake, where a Cascade bike corral will be set up. Milk Carton races start at 10am, we’ll be a bit late, but that’s how we roll. Races go all morning, with a Children’s Show at noon. See the Seafair site for more info about this big fun day.
If you want to *gasp* leave the neighborhood to participate in a ride beforehand, the June ride will be this Saturday in Ballard. Get all the info from Totcycle.
