Spotted on craigslist:
I was at Greenlake today, Sunday June 21, around 5pm. I was leaving when I saw a rat at that five-way stop near Gregg’s Greenlake Cycle! It was hugging the curb and was very scared! The rat came up to me and wanted to be picked up. I put him in my hat and pushed my bike home to u-district. He was upset when I found him, but became calm when I carried him. He hardly moved at all. Obviously, he was used to being carried in public places. He tried to climb to my shoulder a few times, but I would not let him.
When I got him home I gave him a bath. He was dirty and had car grease on him. He let me bathe him in the sink with soap, and I think he is accustomed to getting bathed also. I happened to have an extra rodent pen so he is living there for now. I cannot keep him forever, though, and he needs a home.
Ideally his owner would see this ad and take him home, but please, anyone who wants a rat should write to me about adopting him. I think he would be happiest with an owner who would carry him around where he can watch people, at least around home if not to parks and public places. This rat has no interest in leaving humans when he is being carried in public, because he did not leave me and it was noisy and hectic the whole walk home. Please write or call and adopt this smart, cute adult black and white rat! 206.547.1675
You know, muggings aside, this is a damn fine neighborhood we live in.
