Whatever You Do, Don't Go in the Water

What do you think? (No Comments) June 16, 2009 at 3:35PM

The 5th Annual Green Lake Open Water Swim is Sunday, June 28th. There are just a couple days to sign up before the price jumps $15.

Is it a good idea to swim in our lovely lake? One of us is tempted. The other one of us gathered a bunch of scary articles. But the thing is, the articles aren’t really that scary. The lake is in good shape at the moment. Toxic blue-green algae has been a problem in the past, but it’s currently under control thanks to aluminum sulfate treatments. Unfortunately, the lake won’t stay clear since there is no plan to continue the treatments. But we’ll be fine algae-wise June 28th. Oh sure, there’s other gross stuff in there, but there’s gross stuff in the pool, too.

The open water swimming enthusiast of us also happens to also be a sucker for a commemorative t-shirt and has signed up for the race. There are still over 80 spots available. Assuming they started with 100 openings, that’s not many participants. Come join us!
