Souped Up Closed Down

What do you think? (8 Comments) May 31, 2009 at 10:16AM

Souped Up Cafe closedFiguring I had to the end of the month (a.k.a. today), I was hoping to boast that I made it to Souped Up Cafe one last time. But darn it, I was ten days too late. It appears their website will be up for a while so you can contact them and lament their closing. Assuming the website isn’t around forever (and this blog is), I’m reprinting the delicious pannini menu for posterity’s sake:

  • Best Grilled Cheese – Swiss cheese, cheddar, and brie on baguette toasted to perfection.
  • Caprese Grilled Cheese – Tomato, basil, and fresh mozzarella with basil pesto on rustic sourdough.
  • Chipotle Chicken Sandwich – Pulled chicken braised in our sweet and spicy chipotle sauce, shredded cheddar cilantro, and red onion threads on ciabatta.
  • Ham and Swiss – Cob-smoked ham, caramelized onions, swiss, garlic butter, and stone-ground mustard.
  • Traditional Panino – Salami, olive tapenade, roasted bell peppers, whole basil, and fresh mozzarella on herbed focaccia.
  • Tuna Melt – Our own delicious tuna salad, hearty slices of tomato, and Tillamook cheddar on sourdough.
  • Turkey and Gorgonzola – With jack cheese, thinly sliced Granny Smith’s and apricot marmalade on sourdough.

Now please heed their dying request and “go support Seattle’s local businesses, local food, and responsible coffee!”

this is pretty ridiculous that this place closed down. the landlord decided to RAISE RENT?? in the midst of an economic downfall?? i hope this place remains unoccupied so they eat the costs. this was the best place in greenlake. now we’re stuck with world wraps that puts in too much rice and too little meat.

What a drag, this place had great food and was something unique! A sign of the times, I suppose. I hope the owners move on to other business ventures in the future, they had a great cafe there and could do it again at a better time.

I was so bummed when I first heard about this. It’s really one of the only good places to eat in Green Lake! Now where am I going to get a yummy salad and those delicious corn muffins??!

RATS! I loved this place – the food and the staff were awesome. Hope the owners find there way back sometime soon!
